Standard 3: Public Speaking
Junior Year: 1.) The student leader acknowledges the audience and purpose of the occasion and and adapts speech and content accordingly This year I was able to MC for the 2022 Football, Dance, and Cheer Senior Night. For this event I had to work with my other MC, Jazmine Vargas, to create a script and plan for the event to be organized and run smoothly. While introducing all the athletes I needed to maintain a loud and clear voice for the audience to hear as well as adapting to technology problems that came up. Standard 2: Interviewing Skills Junior Year: 3.) The student leader anticipates possible interview questions and rehearses potential responses I ran for Senior Class President for the 2023-2024 school year. Prior to my interview I practiced my responses to possible interview questions to better prepare myself. In addition, I asked my parents for feedback on how I could make my responses better and more cohesive. This all allowed me to feel more confident and prepared going into my interview. Standard 5: Conflict Resolution
Senior Year: 1.) Managing groups requires developing and refining skills related to listening, advising, effectively communicating, and seeking outside support as needed. As class president it is my responsibility to organize and lead flower parties during homecoming season. However, this role can become overwhelming at times when the responsibility is just placed on myself. So, as a proactive leader I made sure to delegate jobs to my class officers and commissioners to get things done more effectively and efficiently. This included delegating the skit choreography, painting duties, and more. |

Standard 1: Group Dynamics Junior Year: 3.) The student leader assumes a leadership role in an activity or group work that allows them to facilitate and direct the group’s activities In October are school held its homecoming with a week full of activities for the whole student body including powder puff, night rally, town wide parade, football game, and dance. Each class in leadership is responsible for parts of the events that pertain to their grade. One of these includes float building on the day of the parade. Throughout the weeks leading up to homecoming myself, other juniors in leadership, and students in our class spent many hours preparing decorations and structures for our float. As a class we are responsible for building the float and being able to work together. I am in charge of leading this group of students to accomplish this goal. By understanding people's different personalities and strengths I was able to delegate jobs for each student to do in order to finish our float. It is so much fun getting to work with other people and grow closer as a class. Standard 3: Social and Emotional Learning
Junior Year: 5.) The student leader establishes and maintains healthy relationships with the student leadership team, the student body, and adults. Maintaining healthy relationships with the leadership class is key in running a good program. As a class president I maintain proper communication with my council, class, and other presidents through text message. In addition, I remain in constant communication with the whole class through band. These methods of communication allow better understanding of situations, reminders for important upcoming dates, and continue to build better relationships with my peers in the class. |

Standard 1: Group Dynamics
Senior Year: 1.) The student leader acknowledges different personality types and how to work together in an all-inclusive group setting. This past summer before my senior year, I was a link crew leader. My job was to help the new incoming freshmen get comfortable and familiar with the campus and their classes. I made sure to help them feel welcome to the school and answer any questions they had. We organized different games to encourage them to make new friends so they could feel more confident on their first day of school. |
Standard 3: Community Service
Sophomore Year: 2.) The student leader participates in a service activity or project to serve a specific need of others. As mentioned in my work history paragraph I was able to co-coach a 3rd and 4th grade volleyball team from St. Bernard's Catholic School. This was an experience that I enjoyed so much and will always cherish. I was able to teach these girls how to play volleyball and what it means to be on a team. Throughout the season they grew so much individually and as a team. It was important to me that I could help instill values in each player that they could use while playing and outside of the sport. These included self-confidence, teamwork, perseverance, and hard work. During my time with them I was able to get to know more about them and create friendships with them as well as the other coaches. I loved coaching because I was able to teach the girls more about the sport that they love. I spent my time 2-3 times a week practicing with them and coaching them at their games every weekend during the spring. The hard work all the girls and coaches put into the season paid off when they were able to win the championship for their division. I learned so much during my time with them including patience, teaching skills, communication, and what it means to be someone they look up to. Standard 1: Civic and Community Engagement Junior & Senior Year: 1.) The student leader develops partnerships with various students, schools, parents, and community groups. I am a member of the Bulldog Project which is a club at Tracy High. We go to elementary schools in Tracy and do presentations about anti-bullying methods and ways to cope with problems that many teenagers face. A big part of this club is also partnering with Kimball High School's club, The Jaguar Project, to further spread our message and make our presentations bigger and better. |

Standard 1: Civic and Community Engagement Senior Year: 3.) The student leader recognizes the value of membership in, and/or partnership with, associations--groups of people organized for a joint purpose. In September, my Leadership class and I traveled to Mountain House High School for our annual Leadership Development Day. There we met with other student government classes in our area including Kimball, West, Millenium, and Mountain House. Throughout the day we participated in games and activities that allowed us to collaborate with the other schools. I learned many new fundraisers and ideas we could implement into our program. I really enjoyed this day and I was able to make many new friends and learn new ways to make our campus a better place. |

Standard 4: Effective Meetings Junior Year: 3.) The student leader creates relevant agendas and maintains accurate minutes As Junior Class President it is my responsibility to lead class meetings where we discuss and plan events, fundraisers, and more. For each meeting I create an agenda that lists all of the topics that we need to go over. This allows for our meetings to be organized and ensures that we cover everything. Class meetings are very important for the juniors in leadership to get together and collaborate with one another and meeting agendas aid us in this process. Standard 1: Authority and Governance Junior Year: 5.) Student leader contributes to committees and/or councils and recognizes how the committees and/or councils benefit the student leadership team In January I was in the Hoopla committee where I was able to help plan and execute our ideas for the rally and spirt week. I contributed to my committee by making posters, planning games, and being an MC for the rally. This event benefits the whole student body by being something that everyone can participate in. Our hard work payed off as the rally was a success and enjoyed by many. Standard 2: Procedures
Senior Year: 1.) The student leader recognizes the ethical and legal implications of following or not following established procedures, rules, regulations, agreements, and contracts. When organizing fundraisers I must make sure that all paperwork is filled out correctly according to the protocols of the school. This looks like filling out all the fundraising and expenditure paperwork before spending money. This ensures our ability to hold fundraisers regularly and legally. |
Standard 4: Advertising
Junior Year: 2.) The student leader makes sure each advertisement contains all necessary information for the product or event 3.) The student leader creates advertisements that are grammatically correct and visually appealing We hold fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for our class. One example of this is our T4 fundraiser that we held earlier in the year. I posted this flyer that I made to our Class Instagram to advertise the event. Publicizing fundraisers as much as possible ensures higher attendance and more money will be raised overall. The money made will benefit our class by allowing us to pay for events that we plan. Standard 5: Customer Service Junior Year: 2.) The student leader exhibits positive customer interaction skills. As Junior Class President I had the great responsibility of planning prom for all juniors and seniors. Aside from planning the event from start to finish, I made sure to advertise all the details needed to know about prom on our social media to keep students up to date. In addition, I stayed in constant communication with students leading up to the event on our social media by answering any questions or concerns that they had. This was very important to me since student spent a good amount of money on their tickets. Standard 4: Advertising
Senior Year: 4.) The student leader utilizes a variety of techniques and media to deliver the message to the target audience. As class president I am incharge of our instagram account, which includes creating different posts to advertise our events. One example of this for this year was our Senior Tailgate event. I created a post with the date, time, and details for the event to encourage students to attend. In addition to social media, which is our main source of communication with our class, we also made sure to include the details in the morning announcements in the weeks leading up to the event. |
